Most of these photographs were taken either right next to the US/Mexican border, or within a few miles from it.
The Rio Grande (or Rio Bravo, as it is known on the Mexican side) is surprisingly shallow, and can be easily waded across in most areas.
Big Bend National Park, where most of the photographs were made, is about a three hour drive south east of El Paso, and is one of the least visited national parks (hence my interest).
Some might be surprised–I was–at what it really looked like. In some cases it was banal and dusty; in others, there was contemplative beauty in a place that seemed so politically charged.
