Lucien Freud’s unblinking scrutiny of the human form—usually of people, clothed or otherwise, sitting on couches, or other interior locales–and psychological introspection always seemed intriguingly related to photographs. I remember seeing the etching show at MoMA a while back and loved the emotional feel of the work.
