Julia Peirone at Belenius

NADA, New York: The Interesting Art Fair, Julia Peirone at Belenius

There was limited photography at NADA this time around. One artist that I came across was Julia Peirone’s photograph, “Susanna”, 2010, of Sweden, showing at Belenius in Stockholm.

Casey Jargo at Everybody Gallery: One Inch Paintings

NADA, New York: The Interesting Art Fair, Casey Jargo at Everybody Gallery

Roughly life-size at a diminutive one-inch square, Casey Jargo at Everybody Gallery of Tuscon, created paintings based on Myspace avatars. These, although tiny, were oddly compelling.

Martin Parr at Field Editions

NADA, New York: The Interesting Art Fair, Early Martin Parr at Field Editions

A classic early Martin Parr, “Mayor of Todmorden’s Inaugural Banquet, 1977”, 2015, from The Non-Conformists, was shown by the Northern UK consortium, Field Editions.

I love this black and white print; a precursor to the colorful maelstrom of British working class relaxation angst, The Last Resort.

Field Editions is a project set up by Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool; Impressions Gallery, Bradford and Redeye, the Photography Network in Manchester.

(All photos taken by Steve Giovinco at NADA.)
