Some Picks and Highlights from AIPAD 2014, Fine Art Photography Show in New York
As The Association of International Photography Art Dealers makes its annual stop in New York, I noticed a few trends while strolling with my friend and artist Jim Bergesen.
One seems to be more abstract work or photographs that bend the notion of photography.
For example, at Yossi Milo’s booth was all non-narrative work (see below). In addition, there was more video and new media here too–more than I remember, certainly. And while there are still strong representation by modern masters (several Steichen’s were around; a great Charles Marville was presented too), the vintage work seems to be waning. Contemporary work seems to be very strongly represented at the fair, with some new and less familiar photographers getting their turn.
